About Me

I am in my third year at the San Joaquin College of Law, where I hope to graduate in Spring of 2008 with the degree of Juris Doctor. (Don’t be too impressed by the “doctor” bit; it’s just the standard degree for lawyers.) On July 29, 30, and 31 of 2008, I will sit for the California Bar Examination. There’s a countdown clock in the sidebar to the right.

Presently, I serve as Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review. During my law review candidacy (before I became a “member” and an editor), I wrote a student comment titled “Land Use and Agricultural Exceptionalism,” which you can find at the citation 16 S.J.Agric.L.Rev. 219 (if you have access to standard tools of legal research, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw).

Other academic achievements include:

  • The award for Best Brief at the 2007 George A. Hopper Moot Court Competition, which I won in collaboration with my most excellent partner;
  • Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence in Civil Procedure, Advanced Tort Law, Tribal Sovereign Immunity, and Business Associations; and
  • the Pete P. Peters Foundation Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Leadership in Spring of 2007.

To pay the bills, I work as a law clerk at a small law firm in Fresno. It is easily the coolest job I have ever had.
